Jeremy Scott Hoffman, Ph.D. is the Director of Climate Justice and Impact at Groundwork USA and an adjunct professor in the L. Jeremy specializes in Earth science communication, data-driven and community-based participatory science, and has years of experience developing experiences for science center and museum exhibitions. Jeremy's work has been recognized by being elected as an AAM Nancy Hanks Rising Star 2023, a Fellow of the AAAS in 2021, highlighted on the Grist 50 in 2020, and written about in the New York Times, Richmond Family Magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), Radio IQ/NPR, Style Weekly, Yale e360, New York Times, Richmond Magazine, STEM Jobs Magazine, the Richmond Times Dispatch, UPWORTHY, and the Corvallis Advocate. Jeremy was the Lead Author of the Fifth National Climate Assessment Southeast Chapter and co-edited the award-winning companion poetry anthology Dear Human at the Edge of Time. Jeremy earned his Ph.D. in Geology with a focus in Paleoclimatology as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. Jeremy also served as a Science Communication Fellow for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and the Mitchell Hamline College of Law. Jeremy then served the Science Museum of Virginia as their Climate and Earth Scientist, completing the requirements of a three-year NOAA Environmental Literacy Grant, then as the first David and Jane Cohn Scientist before leaving in May 2023 to begin work with Groundwork USA.
